The Step Into Our Stories resources have been created with goodness and thoughtfulness by Indigenous educators, community members, culture bearers, language speakers, and artists with support from trusted allies.

The goal in creating these resources is to help educators confidently and effectively teach about Indigenous histories, cultures, and contemporary contributions.

The understandings shared here reflect one perspective rooted in Anishinaabe thought and are offered to support learning and relationship-building. Indigenous Knowledge is not fixed; it is lived, practiced, and passed down in ways that vary across families, communities, environments, nations, and regions. These explanations do not represent all Anishinaabe or Indigenous worldviews. Whenever possible, make space for and prioritize community-specific language, teachings, and guidance as they are generously offered.

Anishinaabemowin has many dialects. The bluejay feather and the loon feather reflect two of the dialects of this beautiful language.
